Electrical : European certification agreements

Recognition of Certification Bodies is an important factor in the differentiation of their certification services that allows adding value to the products they certify, with all the resulting benefits for manufacturers.

At European level CERTIF is the national Certification Body member of the following certification mutual recognition agreements within the EEPCA - European Electrical Products Certification Association:

  • CCA Agreement (CENELEC Certification Agreement);
  • ENEC Agreement (European Norms Electrical Certification);
  • HAR Agreement for harmonized electric cables.

CERTIF is also recognized as a Notified Body under the Low Voltage Directive, thereby allowing to support national companies that require affixing the CE marking on their products.

CERTIF has bilateral recognition agreements with some European Certification Bodies, particularly with AENOR (Spain) , DEKRA (former KEMA) (Netherlands), LCIE (France), IMQ (Italy), SGS Belgium (Belgium) and VDE (Germany) and is prepared to develop further cooperation initiatives with other certification bodies , if there is interest of domestic manufacturers.

CCA Agreement

CERTIF Certified Product Mark - direct access to Europe

CCA Agreement (CENELEC Certification Agreement) is an agreement on mutual recognition of conformity marks, which allows any manufacturer who has obtained a conformity mark of any of the Certification Bodies (CBs) members of the Agreement, to obtain the mark from all others, through an administrative process.

For those situations when a manufacturer needs to obtain one or more certification marks well known at European level, but wants to avoid the costs and the extra time that has to spend addressing to each of these OC, the manufacturer just have to request CERTIF Certified Product Mark and immediately requires the other certification marks that also intends to obtain.

CERTIF offers the opportunity to combine CERTIF Certified Product Mark with CCA certification. For this the manufacturer just have to indicate in advance which are the European countries where he wants to export his products, that will be tested taking into account national deviations of those countries .

CCA certification covers the full range of Low Voltage electrical products to be commercialized in Europe.
CERTIF issues, together with the certificate for the use of CERTIF Certified Product Mark and based on the result of tests performed on products, a CCA document, called a Notification Test Result (NTR) that must then be submitted by the manufacturer to the OC’s where he wants to obtain conformity marks.

Any manufacturer - national or international - can request CERTIF the granting of Certified Product Mark, under CCA Agreement. For this purpose the standards must always be CENELEC normative documents (EN or HD).

ENEC Agreement

ENEC Mark

ENEC Agreement is accordance for assignment of a common European mark, which has an identification number of the certification body that grants it and that is different from all others. This agreement applies to all the products and electrical equipment covered by CENELEC European standards.

This mark is recognized in all countries whose CBs are subscribers of this European certification agreement. ENEC mark not only allows easy access to the EU market, but also to all EFTA countries and has a high level of acceptance and recognition in the countries of Eastern Europe.

If you manufacture, import or sell products or electrical equipment can now avoid having to resort individually to each certification body for the mark of each one of these countries. Nowadays it is extremely expensive and is an absolute waste of time.

Requesting certification with CERTIF, we test and certify these products and grant the ENEC European, which replaces all European marks within European Union area and makes unnecessary to perform other tests by other CBs.

ENEC Mark is a recognized and European well implemented mark, because it is a choice of manufacturers, authorities, consumers and other economic agents, that are all represented in the various decision bodies of ENEC Agreement.

ENEC mark on a product is an assurance that it complies with the Low Voltage Directive, CE Marking may be used, without the need for additional testing.

CCA Agreement

Mark

HAR Agreement aims to grant a common European mark, <HAR>, that is preceded by the identification of the CB that grants it. This agreement applies only to electrical cables for which there are published European standards (EN).

This mark is recognized in all countries whose CBs are signatories to this Agreement.
<HAR> brand is the oldest European common conformity mark and is so known and accepted at European level that hardly any manufacturer can market their electric cables in the European market without having obtained their HAR certification.

This certification process is based on stringent evaluation criteria which ensure that an electrical cable with <HAR> mark meets the standards that apply to it, has an appropriate performance level to its use and that is produced under rigorous quality control conditions, that are verified and evaluated at the manufacturing site and at independent test labs several times a year.

All electrical cables with HAR certification are compliant with the Low Voltage Directive.
